Don’t forget to pose alongside the Planet Globe, next to Noel Neill’s (as Lois Lane) statue

Unlike the Daily Planet found in the comics, this weekly newspaper is every Wednesday.    The iron globe sat in front of the newspaper office, until it was moved to the location beside it's favorite reporter, Lois Lane. 

Along Market Street are a series of 5 murals, painted on the exterior of buildings.  

Alongside each mural is a plaque describing the historical significance of each scene.

This selfie spot is along the Ohio River at Dorothy Miller Park

The 30 foot tall lighthouse is designed to resemble a real lighthouse and contains a modern lighthouse beacon.

The most super, #SuperSelfie spot is the a 15-foot-high bronze Superman statue

Located on Superman Square, guarding the county courthouse and next to the Super Museum.  The perfect place to start your super selfie adventure. 

The museum, at the corner of 6th & Market streets, is open daily and  features over 70,000+ items from the life's work of longtime Superman enthusiast and collector, Jim Hambrick who has amassed one of the greatest collections of Superman memorabilia in the world.  

Join other super fans, during the annual Celebration the second weekend of June each year.  The fun begins Thursday evening and runs through Sunday.

Located at Fort Massac State Park, where many historic special events and programs are held throughout the year.

Take a 188 mile scenic drive along the Ohio River Scenic Byway in southern Illinois.  Stop at sites with rich historic heritage and enjoy the spectacular Shawnee National Forest, and the beautiful Ohio River. The scenic drive meanders along the Ohio River in Southernmost Illinois.  The Byway winds from the Wabash Bridge at the Indiana border south along the Ohio River before it reaches the Mississippi River at Cairo.  A unique travel experience awaits you along the byway’s 188 miles.

History buffs will love a visit to Old Shawneetown!

Walk down the sidewalks and see parts of old foundations of buildings that no longer stand. See the old hitching posts along Main Street that are still waiting for horses to be tied up. You will also see landmarks where General John A Logan was married as well as the first newspaper in the state, also located on Main Street.  Old Shawneetown is no ordinary town, the town is saturated in the history of its flood waters, historic politicians, banking history, and many other stories that have never been told.
